MORTALIDAD POR HOMICIDIO Y SUICIDIO EN LA ADOLESCENCIA: MAGNITUD, CARACTERÍSTICAS Y CIRCUNSTANCIAS. PROVINCIA DE BUENOS AIRES

Introducción El presente estudio aborda la problemática de las muertes por homicidio y suicidio en jóvenes de 10-19 años con foco en la Provincia de Buenos Aires. La investigación se propuso estimar la magnitud  y describir la tendencia de la mortalidad por suicidio y homicidio de adolescentes en el país y en la provincia de Buenos Aires, analizar las fuentes de información disponibles y su accesibilidad y describir las características y circunstancias de las muertes de adolescentes por homicidio y suicidio.Se analizaron datos secundarios mediante tasas y distribuciones. Se analizó el contenido de entrevistas semi estructuradas a familiares de las víctimas de homicidio y a personas vinculadas con el suicidio en la adolescencia.ResultadosLas víctimas de homicidio muestran dificultades para mantener la escolarización y ausencia de contención paterna/materna. Las sustancias psicoactivas están presentes pero su rol no es claro. Los perpetradores, de edad similar a las víctimas, usan armas de fuego, viven en el vecindario y tienen relación previa con ellas. Las instituciones que deberían actuar, policía, justicia, servicios de emergencia, guardias hospitalarias, son evaluadas negativamente.Se observa falta de profesionales entrenados en la detección y derivación del suicidio adolescente y de una organización que los vincule y facilite el tratamiento y la derivación. Se señalan factores de riesgo individuales, familiares y sociales. Se remarca la invisibilidad del problema en los ámbitos familiar, escolar, comunitario y de saludConclusionesFactores de riesgo estructurales, rasgos familiares, características personales y relacionales pusieron a las víctimas de homicidio en el camino del disparo que las mató. Las instituciones que deberían actuar para prevenir o para auxiliar y contener no están cumpliendo sus funciones adecuadamente. En cuanto a los suicidios, es necesario incorporar profesionales de la salud mental capacitados en la temática, que puedan detectar señales y realizar la derivación a tiempo.IntroductionThis research studied the problem of homicides and suicides of adolescents (10-19 years old) with special focus on Buenos Aires provinceObjectivesThe research aimed at: estimating magnitude and trend of adolescent mortality by homicide and suicide in the country and in Buenos Aires province, analyzing available data sources and their accessibility, and describing the characteristics and circumstances of adolescent deaths by homicide and suicide. MethodsSecondary data were analyzed by means of rates and distributions. The contents of semi-structured interviews to members of the family of victims of homicide and to persons related to adolescent suicide were also analyzed.ResultsHomicide victims had difficulty in continuing in school and absence of parental limits. Psycho-active substances were present but their role was unclear. Victimizers were of age close to that of their victims, used fire arms, lived in the neighborhood, and had a previous relationship with the victim. The institutions that should act : police, justice, emergency services, hospital emergency services, are negatively evaluated.There is a lack of professionals trained in the detection and care of adolescent suicide and of an organization that would articulate them and facilitate treatment and care. Individual, family, and social risk factors were mentioned. The invisibility of the problem in the family, the school, the community and the health system was noted.ConclusionsRisk factors in the structural, family, individual, and relational domain got the victims of homicide in the way of the bullet that kill them. The institutions that should act to prevent or help and support are not fulfilling their functions adequately. Regarding suicides, there is a need to incorporate mental health professionals trained in the problem that can detect signals and derive in a timely fashion.
