This article offers a short genealogy of the birth of queer studies in the United States. As shown in the two collections, Sexualidades transgresoras: una antología de estudios queer and Manifiestos gays, lesbianos y queer: testimonios de una lucha (1969-1994), my approach connects history and queer activism in order to avoid terminological misconceptions.
