That place known with the name of Hoyas del Tullido, Marjalesdel Tullido or Hoyos de Marín, situated in Caniles’ municipaldistrict (Granada), in the northern hillside of theSierra de Baza-Los Filabres, shelters the remains of a goldmine with huge works on surface. In this place there weretested the hydraulic technology developed in the Antiquityin order to mining gold-bearing alluviums. Inside it thereare ceramic shards and wall structures that in some casesmight be dated in the High Empire. This mine is over onedozen kilometres from Basti, the main oppidum that actedas eponym of the region called Bastetania by the Greco-Romangeographers. In Roman times, it was developed as animportant site in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula.
