Urbanización, servicios públicos y gestión municipal durante el porfiriato

This essay offers an interpretation ofthe relationship between urbanization,municipal management and publicservices in Mexico´s Federal District duringthe period of Mexican history known asPorfiriato. It’s contribution lies in interpretingthese relationships in light of thechanges experienced one of the foreignpopulations of the Mexican capital,Tacubaya, as a result of the centralizationof power and authority that accompaniedthe Porfiriato and that made localgovernments adjust any their actions tothe general reorganization of social andpolitical relations in the Mexican capital,and to the materialization of this politicalgovernment reorganization into theurban space. Thus, the specificity of thehistory of municipal management takeson a different meaning in the context ofunderstanding the changes experiencedby the country and its capital at a crucialperiod in its modern history.
