“Un país de desolación, sílices y cenizas”. El mito de Palestina como tierra virgen en el discurso sionista

ResumenLa representación de Palestina como una tierra virgen ha sido una constante en el discurso del movimiento sionista y ha contribuido a modelar imaginarios colectivos y relaciones sociales en el conflicto entre israelíes y palestinos, además de intentar negar legitimidad a los derechos sobre la tierra de estos últimos. Vinculada a dos imágenes antagónicas del autóctono palestino y del pionero judío, ha buscado ser una de las principales fuentes de legitimación del proyecto político sionista. Empleado tanto desde los aparatos estatales como fuera de ellos, fue utilizado en la primera sesión especial de la Asamblea General de la ONU en 1947 o durante el “proceso de paz” de la década de 1990. Su análisis remite a un elemento clave en este contexto; lo que Yitzhak Epstein denominó la “cuestión oculta”, es decir, el choque entre una empresa sionista cuyo principal objetivo ha sido la creación de un Estado judío en Palestina y la presencia anterior de los palestinos.Abstract The representation of Palestine as a virgin land has been a constant in the discourse of the Zionist movement and it has contributed to shape collective imaginaries and social relations in the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. Moreover, it has tried to deny legitimacy of the Palestinian land rights. This representation has been linked to two antagonistic images of native Palestinian and pioneer Jewish, has sought to be a major source of legitimation of the Zionist political project. It has been used by both the institutions and outside them, it was employed in the UNO first special session in 1947 or during the “peace progress” of the 1990s. The analysis of the myth of Palestine as a virgin land refers to a key element in this context; what Yitzhak Epstein called the “hidden issue”, that is, the clash between the Zionist enterprise, whose main aim has been the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine, and the previous presence of Palestinians.Palabras clave: Sionismo; Palestina; Israel; mitos nacionales; discurso.
