Para no Perder El Norte. This article is the result of an oral history project organised around the exhibition designed to showcase the print Tip. El Norte and the importance of the same in the rural environment of Gáldar on the island of Gran Canaria, at a time when the British were exploiting the banana plantations and export trade (Leacock, Hamilton, Harris, Blandy and others)on the island. The combined result of the artistic and educated local nucleus that arose around the print in times of dictatorship and the British influence on the area are highlighted in the interviews, a video of which can be procured through the Casa-Museo Antonio Padrón, Gáldar, Gran Canaria. The questions dealt with are art and crafts in traditional rural areas together with identity as a competitive advantage and differential in tourism.
