The Shameless, Unethical, Improper, Unprofessional use of PHD in IFA ~ El uso desvergonzado, no ético, inadecuada, poco profesional de PHD en IFA The Cubans have a great word that always comes with the rolling of the eyes when they use the word “invento”. It is more than just invention it is a contrived fabrication. Some unscrupulous priests have begun to attach PHD to their names and this is a fine example of “invento”. There may be a handful of priests who are under educated or using the PHD innocently; but the vast majority are aware this use is a ruse designed to suggest they have a title they did not earn. If not, why use a misleading acronym and not PDH? Or DHP or DPH or HPD or HDP?

The use of PHD (Priest, Healer, Diviner) is just another scam that ethical priests should distance themselves from. In our religion and culture we have many educated and many educators from universities and higher education. Many have earned degrees and worked hard for them. This is true in Nigeria and throughout Yoruba Land, in Brazil, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the USA, all of Central and South America including Mexico, and in Europe other parts of Africa as well. Do you think that such learned women and men in our many traditions like Wande Abimbola, Ifayemi Elebuibon, Baba Adigun Olosun, Chief Fama, Chief Popoola or Funlayo E Wood would approve of this use of the title? Would Lazaro Cuestas, Oba Pichardo, Nelson Alverez, Marcos Sanchez, Iya Brenda Vice or other Latinos try and defraud anyone by using a title of PHD that they did not earn? El uso de PHD (Sacerdote, Sanador, Adivino) es simplemente otra estafa que los sacerdotes éticas deben distanciarse de. Clearly my suggestion is never use PHD unless you have earned this academic title. Because if you do I assure you it will create problems for you sooner or later.
