TECNICAS DE ESTABLECIMIENTO PARA Araucaria angustifolia. EFECTOS SOBRE EL CRECIMIENTO Y EL SUELO

SUMMARY The effect of different establishment techniques was evaluated on the initial growth of Araucaria angustifolia, in Misiones, Argentina. The experimental plots were installed in 1999 in a kandiudult soil with a previous Pinus spp. plantation, which was harvested. The treatments evaluated were combination of the following factors: slash management, tillage systems, fertilization levels. The statistical analysis of the data for growth -at 25 months- and the edaphic variables -at 22 months after sowing- showed significant difference only between residues management treatment. The largest of both, the total height and the diameter at neck level values were detected in the plots where the residues were burnt. The highest percentage of organic carbon were observed in the plots where the residues were kept.
