The paper studies two cannons from the Council of Elvira: the nineteenth, which requires the economic activity of members of the clergy, its features and limits and the twentieth, dealing with sanctions that deserve the clerics or laymen who lend money at interest. In both cannons I want to determine: a. if his contain is unusual or no within the Christian roman society of the time and b. what source or sources might bear in mind the Council attendees to set the content of the cannons.
