Sartre: una (nueva) teoría de la conciencia

Idea de (nueva)
Bajo el contexto de las teorías de la conciencia, sobre todo las teorías de orden superior, es que existe un interés hacia el corpus teórico de Jea-Paul Sartre. Esto trae dos positivas consecuencias. Primero, interpretar a Sartre desde los conceptos de las teorías de la conciencia de orden superior implica una mejor comprensión del propio Sartre. Segundo, presentar a Sartre como un exponente de las teorías de orden superior implica una nueva valoración de las ideas de Sartre sobre la conciencia.
Es así que, para Sartre la conciencia tiene las siguientes características: a) es intrínseca; b) es un estado complejo internamente diferenciado; c) es auto-representacional y por lo tanto d) posee un cierto tipo y/o grado de autoconciencia. Lo cual explicaría la conciencia fenomenal.

"Es una condición necesaria: si mi conciencia no fuera conciencia de ser conciencia […], sería conciencia […] sin tener conciencia de serlo, o, si se prefiere, una conciencia ignorante de sí misma, una conciencia inconsciente, lo que es absurdo. Es una condición suficiente: basta con que tenga […] conciencia de tener conciencia […] para que tenga efectivamente conciencia de ella." (El Ser y la Nada, p: 21).
"[…], toda conciencia posicional de objeto es al la vez conciencia no posicional de sí misma." (El Ser y la Nada, p: 22).
"[…] la naturaleza misma de la conciencia es existir «en círculo»." (El Ser y la Nada, p: 23).

Problemas del Sartre de Gennaro
Elementos no-conscientes:
"However, I suggest that we must interpret Sartre as logically committed to the existence of nonconscious METs. What else is a 'non-positional self-awareness' except some kind of nonconscious meta-psy­chological mental state? I cannot understand it any other way. […]. Furthermore, either 'non-positional self­ awareness' is conscious (which is absurd and would lead to the infinite regress) or it is a nonconscious mental state of some kind (which is therefore the only viable alternative). One's conscious mind cannot be directed both at outer objects and at one's own mind at the same time, and so the non-positional self-awareness that accompanies one's pre-reflective (positional) consciousness of outer objects must be nonconscious." (Gennaro, 2002: 307 - 308).
Estructura egológica de la conciencia:
"Another contention of the HOT theorist is that the HOT (or MET) is of the form 'I am in mental state M now.' That is, the content of the HOT is an indexical thought making reference to both the person having the mental state (the 'I') and the mental state (the 'M'). However, it is crucial to recall that the HOT is not itself conscious when one is in a world-di­rected conscious state. The 'I-thought' is implicit in such cases and only becomes explicit on the reflective level. […]. When I am preoccupied with outer reality (e.g. in trying to hang a picture or in running after a streetcar) I am still implicitly aware of myself ('I') as being in a conscious mental state. […]. So a first-order consciousness is directed at the world and a reflective consciousness is directed at oneself, but, even on the unreflective level, one still has indirect or implicit thoughts about oneself" (Gennaro, 2002: 326).
Soluciones al Sartre de Gennaro
Evitar elementos no-conscientes postulando una mayor auto-representacionalidad:
"Brentano […] argues that the inner consciousness in question, rather than being a new mental state, is simply an internal feature of the primary experience. Thus, a mental state is conscious not by being taken as an object by a further mental state, but by taking itself as object, and according to Brentano, this prevents any infinite regress from getting off the ground. […]. I have a perception of the sun set, and an awareness of the perception, and consequently two objects: The sunset and the perception. Contrary to appearance, however, I do not have two different mental states. As Brentano points out, the perception of the sunset is united so intrinsically and intimately with the awareness of the perception of the sunset, that they only constitute one single psychical phenomenon. […]. Thus, it is important to emphasize that the focus of attention is on the primary object, and that our awareness of the mental state itself is normally secondary and incidental." (Zahavi, 2004: 71 - 72)
Sartre postulando teoría auto-representacional de la conciencia.
Economía explicativa, no se postula estados mentales no-conscientes demás sino grados de una capacidad.

The 'first-personal mode of givenness', as we shall see, is well characterized by the self-manifestation of the stream, in Sartrean terms, by non-positional self-consciousness. We don't need anything else. Different self-manifesting streams will feel themselves to be distinct individuals. Streams of consciousness are individuated; […]. (Williford, 2011: 203).

Estructura no-egológica de la conciencia:
"[…] mientras leía tenía conciencia del libro, de los héroes de la novela, pero el Yo no habitaba esa conciencia, ella era solamente conciencia del objeto y conciencia no-posicional de sí misma." (La Trascendencia del Ego, p: 26).
"Sartre maintains, "There is a consciousness of this chair," instead of saying, "I am conscious of this chair."" (Gurwitsch, 2009: 326).
Para-mí-dad [formeness] Para-mí-dad no-egológica:
"What is constitutive of a phenomenally conscious mental state is having a content like 'this mental state is occurring' and not something like 'I am in this mental state'" (Sebastián, 2012: 161).
