This paper presents a review of Lactarius’ genus, conducted through ethnomycological point of view. Only a few of the more than 100 species comprising this genus have not passed unnoticed by the traditional knowledge local, neither to the currently trend of amateur mycology that has been emerged from of leisure culture. Numerous popular names are given in the different regions where they grow, and its use varies from food, with a strong presence into the traditional cuisine of the different Iberian regions, until medicinal use and presence in many sides of popular oral literature. It is interesting the knowledge associated with the ecology of the most significant species, a fact that is found in the common names of many species, collected or not. It is noteworthy the Levantine villages, where they found a very strong cultural presence where we could check the many common names gather in Catalan language
