This paper from 2006 was presented at the conference El Espacio Litoral: Turismos Insulares (II Congreso Internacional) organised by the Department of Art, City and Territory at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The paper pursues the importance of making intangible heritage tangible in mature resorts whose cultural identity has been undermined or overwhelmed by mass tourism.
