There have many scales that have been used to measure emotions felt when sleep deprived. However, many of the current scales produce inconsistent results. Therefore, the present study attempted to develop a scale that might be more appropriate for the emotions felt after sleep deprivation.  Two hundred and forty-five undergraduate students participated in the study. Participants rated 100 items on how essential they were to understanding sleep deprivation. A factor analysis was conducted on the remaining items and two factors were identified. These factors were found to have high internal validity and divergent validity. The present scale is a possible alternative for measuring sleep-based emotions. However, future research should attempt to further validate and replicate the results.
