Problemas para gobernar un Imperio. Aspectos del modelo colonial en Filipinas, siglos XVI-XVIII

ABSTRACTThis essay aims to illustrate the ways in which the Spanish empiredeveloped a system capable of integrating far away territories with diverse economic, social and cultural patterns. Also it aims to portray the specific difficulties that the colonial administration had to overcome in order to provide elements of cohesion to the Spanish empire as a whole.The colonial system of the Spanish empire, in particular with respect to the expansion of the viceroyalty of New Spain towards the Pacific and the settlements in the Philippines , could be considered as a first experience of globalisation though with very different principles to the ones that people pretend for the attempts of globalisation at present.KEYWORDS: Spanish Empire, globalisation, Philippines, China, Chinese
