Platería barroca del taller de Pamplona en Gipuzkoa

La vecindad física entre Gipuzkoa y Navarra, así como la pertenencia de la mayor parte de las tierras guipuzcoanas a la Diócesis de Pamplona, ocasionó un rico intercambio artístico entre ambos territorios, que en el ámbito de la platería se acentuó más si cabe en los siglos del barroco. Ésta fluida relación se tradujo en el intercambio tanto de piezas como de plateros, tal y como lo demuestran los datos documentales conservados, que nos hablan de numerosos encargos por parte de iglesias guipuzcoanas a artífices pamploneses, entre los que destaca el diseño de dos joyas elaborado por un maestro pamplonés para un noble guipuzcoano. Sin embargo los avatares de la historia han propiciado que sólo hayan llegado hasta nuestros días un escaso número de estas alhajas argénteas, sin duda alguna un pálido reflejo de todo lo que existióThe proximity between Gipuzkoa and Navarre and the fact that the Diocese of Pamplona owned most of the lands of Gipuzkoa, resulted in a valuable artistic exchange between these two territories. In the field of silversmith´s craft this exchange became more noticeable during the baroque ages. This fluent relatioship caused the exchanged of both silverware and silversmiths as it is proved in preseved documents. Such documents tell us that churches os Gipuzkoa commisioned silversmiths of Pamplona the design of works of art. Among all is worth highlighting the design of two jewels by a master of Pamplona for a noble of Gipuzkoa. However the ups and downs of the history have caused that only a limited number of these silver jewels have been preserved and they are, with any doubt, a pale reflection of the ones that existed in the past
