philosophical sketches

a sacred space

my sincere gratitude,

to all my friends,
for keeping faith in me and my abilities…….. specially to one of my
dear and beloved friends, who convinced me to write these sketches in the
first place, and with sincere help of whom this work has come to be.

Philosophy(definition)- philosophy makes us conscious of the profound
truths of our lives and the nature.

prologue

man and reality

Man is born within and molded in a way he perceives this world, and
holds the power to mold the world as to suit his will, being a human being.

Which makes his reality(world) ever changing…..as he perceives it and
changes it.

The self (an individual) and the reality(the world) as whole is trying
reach an absolute, on an infinite path.

let's say,
we had six or seven senses instead of five ….. would the reality(world) be
sensed differently. it is technically(in reality) not possible to
experience the reality(world) in its entirety…..

the sacred

Let us say one sleeps on the terrace because of the heat every night
in the summer . before falling off to sleep he counts the stars or looks
for different shapes within that immense, endless sky, filled with
uncountable number of stars. Let us say one day a huge satellite passed by
and caused one of the star damage, damage enough for it to fall. And, the
tail of one of the shapes he had imagined disappeared.

And, one's heart cried out loud," don't touch them, they are sacred."

architecture

Man is what he sees and experiences.

What he makes outside comes from within.

What is outside is within him and what is within him he builds
outside.

Building is all there is outside of him. (ether)(atmosphere)

ether

let's say there is a water filled bottle and water is filled up till
the lead…… there is no way to tell if there is anything in the bottle
except by the weight of the bottle. But, if we drop few drops of color in
the water one would immediately know the contains…… same way if one could
drop few drops of water in the space…… what we would experience would
ether.

about a neem tree and a coconut tree

one day, a kid from the neighborhood living across my house asked me,
"why are some people white and some black?"

I answered,
"let's say there is a neem tree and a coconut tree. neem tree is supposed
to heal us off the diseases…. and coconut water is supposed to quench our
thirst. No one knows why we have different colors. besides, the trees are
not fighting. Why are we?"

work

The phenomenon of consciousness,
Some find it in physicality of things,
find beauty in shapes and colors.
Some in the way things move
the mechanics of it,
some in the way things are felt.
And,
some,
look for meaning in it.

Human knowledge

unlike human newborns, the newborns of other mammals' start walking
immediately at the birth………………..

who taught the calf to start drinking its mother's milk right away?

Just like the calf there are some abilities in us(humans) which are
intrinsic……..

non-artist also could tell immediately if he your plan(drawing) or a
painting is good or not.

last subject brings us to the most important subject…..

about good and bad in the world(universe)

it has been my observation that it is fairly easy to turn a bad person
in to a good person, with little understanding of the way his his/her life
has been and compassion.

but, it is impossible to turn a good person in to a bad one even with
inexhaustible efforts.

what does that tell us?

in the natural world beyond humans the bad does not exist. no animal
kills for pure jealousy, anger or hearted. we all have heard of a lion
playing with a young of a warthog(wild boar) when belly full.

this means that the bad is unknown to the universe.

life

I am going to talk about(narrate) my work(journey) here as to talk
about life…..

As a kid, I played in the mud near my house as all kids do……
went to school and college as all kids do……..

one day,
a question came to my mind. which comes to everyone's mind at some
time or the other……. in some form or the other……

This long quest(journey) filled me with more dreams,

Dreams of,
Swimming with the mermaids,
Running with the forest-nymphs,
Flying with the eagles.
swing in the rain as my trees do.
Roaming in the labyrinths of books.

I believe,
Every human being is good at heart.

And,
Would like to own a Stepwell of my own.

I dream of,
artists not having to sell their work,
and, architects exhibiting their work at the galleries……

I dream of,
Green Revolution,
and, coming back of the Satyuga.

love

a sphere of being…

rather,
spheres of beings,

or even better,

two spheres of two beings,

the sphere….pain, happiness, imaginations, trees, pets, all filled in
to the sphere of ether….translucent ether, till it meets another………..and,
becomes one.

When the first cell was born

they say the first living cell ever was born in water. and from than
on it multiplied in to 2s and 4s and 8s and 64s and so on…..

sometimes i wonder, what is it that makes us crave for
another(being)?….. everyone feels this at some time in their life and some
spend life time searching for such.

And, that first cell had to divide to multiply. Dividing, it lost
togetherness and the search for the such back is not only instinctual it is
primal.

(yin-yang of) a family

religion

in nature everything works on give and take because we are all
connected and work as one into nature. For the nature, the living earth to
go on living eternally (for a long time), nature recycles itself through
the food chain.

(Doesn't matter if some eat the flesh and some don't! the fresh
vegetables and fruits we eat are alive, every cell of a fresh fruit is
alive. The milk we drink is stolen from the calf! So what should we
eat?........)
The give and take! If I take a mongo from the mango tree and eat for
my selfish needs, I take, I care and aid someone other than myself I
give….. jains don't eat the fresh vegetables and fruits during religious
festival. They also completely don't eat during other festival. why don't
jains eat at certain religious times? They are trying to reduce the selfish
'take'! One can reduce the 'take' by fasting like the jain people do and
increase the 'give' by helping other beings on earth.

What is the difference between religion and spirituality? Spirituality
is only more pure form of religion, telling us the same thing! Less
selfish, i.e. less 'take'…….. religion teaches one to fast. the
spirituality, to be good and care and help others!

What does this tell us? leave the selfishness, self-centeredness, the
self, the ego……. a mother, in nature leaves the ego for a child! She truly
gives everything of herself to care for a child. mother goddess is the sole
god!

a stepwell, the mother goddess, a pregnant woman, a river, a cow, a
pot……... all means the motherhood. They all nourish.

War
A house of war
it is a 15 m by 15 m cube, stone masonry with
stone blocks and not the rubble. it is situated in wilderness, people have
forgotten what war was, by now, the monument has gone to ruins. roaming in
the wilderness, by chance someone has found it.
there has been a storm last night and dried leaves have entered the
monument from the ceiling perforations. and, so from which the rain water
has filled the pond. as one walks through the monument there is the sound
of cracking of dried leaves and water drops falling from the ceiling.
the war, the guns used in the wars, not so visually violent, but in olden
times there used to be a spear attached to guns, so if one ran out of
bullets he would have at least the spear to fight the enemy. these spears
on the wall signify violence and war. There are no opening to the monument
besides the ceiling perforations so in the darkness the metal spears are
visible only where the light is falling form the ceiling perforations.
spiral makes one look within one's own self and makes one contemplates, why
there is war. water at basement pond purifies one of the ill feeling of war
and the light from the vaulted brick tunnels of hope become visible in the
darkness. tunnels are 4 in numbers. number 4 is a symbol of all four
directions and also the symbol of victory. which here is that of hope.

Happiness and pain

Happiness is life and pain is death. Life is happiness and death is
pain! Life is neutral, it throws both at us! It is in our hands to see the
glass half full. And, than onwards the happiness multiplies.

For the alive life to go on living, nature has created happiness. To
eat, to love someone and receive it back is happiness! Because the love
gives us happiness we crave for more and more, and we want to experience
love the repeatedly. Same goes for food, we like it when we eat good food
and we eat repeatedly which gives us energy to go on living.

art

Experimentation….essential part of any art, be it with a form, a
technique or with colors...without which a painting is not an art….

They say children hold the power to imagine which we as adults don't
have……simplicity

No one can escape the power of chance…one can say there are no
accidents…I say everything is an accident…………

human psyche

If there is body, there is a mind, if the is a mind, there is a body,
both are inseparable!

If the emotions are govern by thoughts, the thoughts are created by
emotions. Heart and mind are inseparable!

There is something more to human beings than all that! The soul……. The
inner conscious!

Spirituality

Is spirituality beautiful?

Let us say we blur the meanings of the words spirituality and beauty,
and merge them!

If you did come across the most honest human being in the world and
the way he/she talked and what he/she talked about brought a smile on your
face, don't you feel he/she is beautiful? or the life is beautiful?

being a woman

we hear all the times the spirituality and also the most beautiful
everyday life stories of motherhood. Well versed with modern books and
ideas, yet possessing a heart most human possible….. modern woman does the
crime by asking….. what it? what is it like? (Would a cow ever ask herself
if she wanted to have a calf or not?)

the final purpose, the final goal….. of owning a woman's body is to
create, give birth and nourish….. for the life to go on living…..for the
human race to go on living. and it is the most beautiful experience
possible.

Death

We are born of nature and we live with in nature, human mind (brain)
is born with in nature and lives, thinks, feels within nature. To take the
thought further human mind (brain/body) thinks and feels within nature and,
it is incapable of acting beyond nature. It is not possible for us to
comprehend reality beyond nature (earth).

We are born and we die someday, at least the humans are capable of
knowing death as they live. As we know everything that lives dies someday,
It is not possible for us to comprehend life without death. Because of
which we see an end in all accruing. And, it makes impossible for us to
comprehend endless space or time. (If we try to think what is beyond earth?
solar system!, and beyond? Galaxy!, and beyond? Other galaxies!, What
beyond? Why we do keep looking beyond? is because we would want to see an
end, like the nature taught us).

So, if we are born of nature, our body or mind(consciousness) are
incapable to go beyond it. The substance we are born with
body/mind(consciousness), is limited to nature(earth).

We know that we will die eventually and that makes us want to value
everything that we see, experience or own, makes us realize the worth,
shows the importance, gives proof of the significance. everything that
lives will die and, this sense of the end makes all meaningful. so, the
death gives meaning to our lives.

Only the earthlings understand death!

Eternity

Not for a second, or an hour, or a day or years, eternity is a moment!
One can choose to be in it with a loved one for ever or choose to be out of
it and live the life of meaninglessness.
