Grades Included in Earned Hours Academic Renewal XA+, XA, XA-, XB+, XB, XB-, XC+, XC, XCR I – Incomplete – computed into grade point average when grade is earned. WP, WF, WNC: assigned when a student officially withdrew from a course in accordance with University regulations. NR – No grade reported by Instructor of Record. Academic Renewal – applies to undergraduate degree-seeking students, re-admitted after a five year absence. This policy allows a currently enrolled student to request their academic record be reviewed for evaluation of previously earned credit and re-calculation of the grade point average from the point of re-admission. Students approved for Academic Renewal are so designated. Academic Standing – Academic suspension is noted on the academic record. Academic probation is not recorded on the academic record. Course Repetitions – 1980 through Fall 1990: a student may repeat courses but will receive credit only once. All grades are computed into the grade point average. Beginning with courses taken Spring1991 or after, students may repeat up to 12 credits for grade improvement. The highest grade will remove the lower grade from GPA and earned credit hours. Transfer Work - Acceptable transfer credits are counted in earned hours toward graduation, but are not computed in the student’s grade point average at the University of New Mexico.
