Observaciones sobre la Tesis de Identidad en Aristóteles, Metafísica Z 6

I aim to clarify the Identity Thesis of Metaphysics Z 6, according to which each (strictly definable) thing is identical with its essence. I show that Z 6 is a mere corollary of Z 4’s theses on essence, and also of its argumentative strategy, governed by some relevant concepts drawn from the ‘logical’ approach of the Organon. Thus, Z 6 only moves up to clarify the general conditions of identity between substance and essence, both taken as strictly definible things. On this basis, I hope to offer some reasons to reject the official reading on Z 6, which sees that the Identity Thesis implies a direct replacement of individuals by universals.
