Descripción

Nigeria and Angola’s oil industry started off mid-1950s. Angola’s proven oil and gas reserves currently trail Nigeria’s. Recently, Angola overtook Nigeria has the largest oil producing Nation in Africa, due to rise in insecurity in Nigeria’s oil rich region- The Niger Delta. Nigeria has proved a more industrialized nation with about 20% Natural gas utilisation, majorly for electricity generation. They both are major exporter of crude oil, with a wide margin between production and consumption, but Nigeria exports a little percentage of her Natural gas compared to Angola’s almost Zero Natural gas exportation. Both countries have potentials of unconventional fossil fuel resources which has remained largely untapped. They share some peculiar challenges as they depend heavily on oil revenue, flare gas, degrade the environment through oil production and lack transparency in their oil industry. While Angola faces little or no problem insecurity in oil industry, Nigeria has had to battle militancy, oil bunkering, and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta since early 2000.
