This work offers a brief overview of Mexican anthropology, beginning with colonial background, its establishment as an academic discipline during the 19th century, its professionalization and consolidation in the 20th century, when prominent figures emerge: Franz Boas, Manuel Gamio, Angel Palerm. The article also examines institutions such as the National Institute of Anthropology and History, the National School of Anthropology and History, and the Institute of Anthropological Research, and closes with a succinct panorama of the current state of anthropology in Mexico.
