The vertical and horizontal overlap of the anterior teeth is referred to as the anterior guidance. This relationship of the anterior teeth is preserved on an articulator with the anterior guide table. When a mechanical table cannot be programmed to simulate the anterior guidance, a custommade anterior guide table is needed.l Many commonly used semiadjustable articulators (for example, from Denar Corp., Anaheim, Calif.) include a nylon stock in&al table that can be customized with autopolymerizing acrylic resin. A method is presented to maxi-

PROCEDURE 1. Cut V-shaped grooves on the sides of the nylon stock in-
cisal table. 2. Cut a piece of shellac base plate to conform to the borders of the table. 3. Lubricate the grooves with petroleum jelly, and place the piece of shellac on the table. Heat gray modelling compound, temper it in a water bath, and adapt it to the grooves. Remove excess compound with a scalpel blade, and lute the compound to the shellac base with a heated instrument (Fig. 1). 4. Wax the shellac to the table with sticky wax to ensure stability.

5. Wet the shellac with resin monomer and fabricate the customized anterior guide table in an autopolymerizing acrylic resin (Duralay, Reliance Dental Mfg. Co., Worth, Ill.) (Fig. 2). This custom anterior guide table can be stored for later use, and the stock incisal table Can be reused any number of times to repeat the procedure for other patients.

Modeling stick compound is often used to correct the borders of custom-made impression trays for com$ete dentures or altered cast procedures for extension base removable partial dentures. l, 2 A modified glue gun makes handling of a stick of modeling compound more efficient. Similar materials can also be used in the same manner. Select an inexpensive mini glue gun (F.P.C. Corp., Buffalo Grove, Ill.) (Fig. 1) with a barrel that uses sticks of glue that approximate the diameter of stick modeling compound. Enlarge the bore of the nozzle of the gun with a large
