Descripción

When sulfide minerals are exposed to air they become oxidized and produce sulfuric acid. In the present experiment we simulate and study the (nonbiological) production of acid mine drainage (or acid rock drainage) in a laboratory session using simple equipment and materials. The pH of different systems is monitored and the observed variations discussed.
