Descripción

A two-way journey was made by many Africans or Afro-Americans coming back to Africa, as is the case of emancipated and deported Cubans between 1862 and 1897. This event supposes an African memory in the Atlantic coming back home, a cultural wealth back to Africa. The Cuban legacy in Africa--and mainly in Fernando Po, now Bioko (Equatorial Guinea)-of the Bonkó or Nánkue rite through the presence of the ñáñigos, or members of the Abakuá society, deported in several trips documented in the late-19th century press, is studied. This fact makes the author consider again the legacy proved in a previous paper by means of the musical 'and ritual ethnography of Creoles and the inhabitants of Annobon, and establish a comparison among the three shores: Calabar, Cuba and Equatorial Guinea.Key words: Abakuá, bonkó, ñánkue, Fernando Poo, Equatorial Guinea
