Sintesi panoramica dell´ architettura moderna (1932) de Alberto Sartoris fueron textos olvidados o poco considerados. Los de Ginzburg, por su única edición en ruso y la proscripción interna que luego sufrieron las búsquedas de esos años veintes, quedaron por mucho tiempo fuera del circuito de las teorías que circularon en occidente, aún tras su tardía traducción al italiano hacia fines de los años setentas; el de Giedion también por su única edición de escasa difusión y por la trascendencia que alcanzó luego Space, Time and Architecture, the growth of a new tradition (1941) -que supuestamente absorbía sus principales argumentos, aunque el autor realizaba un giro de enfoque respecto a su primer libro-; el de Moholy-Nagy porque fue leído sólo como una didáctica que proponía un cambio en las artes visuales mediante nuevas técnicas de diseño; el de Sartoris porque fue considerado una mera colección fotográfica basada en una acumulación informativa descuidando la fuerte, aunque oscura, propuesta programática subyacente tras esa operación.A pesar de ser considerados libros menores, poco difundidos, poco debatidos o reducidos a simples catálogos, respondieron con acento singular a la demanda sobre los materiales específicos de la arquitectura -en particular: el espacio, la estructura y la envolvente- reafirmando su autonomía respecto a determinaciones representativas e históricas de manera análoga a procesos desarrollados en otras artes. Esa búsqueda de la autonomía fue un rasgo distintivo de las experiencias vanguardistas del primer tercio del siglo XX. En este sentido estos libros son paradigmáticos y se dibujan con claridad en el vasto conjunto de reflexiones sobre la nueva arquitectura de los años veinte.Materials of Modern Architecture. Sintesi panoramica dell´ architettura moderna (1932) by Alberto Sartoris were forgotten or little considered texts. The two ones by Ginzburg were only published in Russian and then suffered the same domestic that other modern expressions of the 20’s. They were largely outside the circuit of the theories that circulated in the West, even after their late Italian translation in the late seventies. The unique edition and the weak diffusion of Giedion’s book, supposedly absorbed in its main arguments by Space, Time and Architecture, the growth of a new tradition (1941) collaborated in its weak knowledge. The book by Moholy-Nagy was read only as a teaching proposal of a change in the visual arts through new design techniques. The book by Sartoris was considered a mere collection of photographs based on multiple information neglecting the strong, but dark, underlying programmatic proposal behind his proposal.Despite being considered lesser books, little known, little discussed or reduced to mere catalogs, they all responded to the demand for specific materials for Architecture: space, structure and surface-affirming its autonomy from representative and historical determinations, following analogous processes in other fine arts. That quest for autonomy was a hallmark of the avant-garde experiments of the first third of the twentieth century.
