Los sefarditas corianos: el apellido Senior de Curaçao a Coro

La primera migración hacia Venezuela una vez constituida la Gran Colombia fue de judíos sefardíes provenientes de Curaçao. El artículo que se presenta es el primer seguimiento que se hace a la evolución demográfica de este colectivo a través de un caso familiar, sustentado en documentación que reposa en archivos de Venezuela y Curaçao. Se visualiza el proceso desde el interior de un conglomerado familiar, advirtiendo las diferencias y perfilando los individuos en su accionar. La idea de un comportamiento demográfico homogéneo se descarta, habiendo respuestas diferentes según las circunstancias e intereses de individuos y familias, que determinaron el retorno de unos a Curaçao y el retorno de los menos a Coro tras los eventos xenofóbicos de 1855.Palabras clave: Venezuela, judíos, capital, familia, inmigración.ABSTRACTThe first migration to Venezuela once constituted the Great Colombia was of Sephardic Jews from Curaçao. The present article is the first follow-up to the demographic evolution of this group is through a familiar case, based in Venezuela and Curaçao archives.
