LOS MECANISMOS DE DEFENSA DESDE LA PERSPECTIVA DE GÉNERO Y SU IMPACTO SOBRE LA SALUD DEFENSE MECANISMS FROM A GENDER PERSPECTIVE AND ITS IMPACT ON HEALTH

Resumen: La presente revisión bibliográfica refleja la evidencia científica existente sobre la diferencia entre hombres y mujeres en el uso de los mecanismos de defensa, así como las posibles causas teorizadas de la misma. Por otro lado, se describe la influencia diferencial de cada tipo de afrontamiento sobre la salud mental encontrada en la literatura. Finalmente, se hacen algunas sugerencias para, dentro de la práctica clínica, mejorar la evaluación y diseño de un programa terapéutico, que considere lo expuesto y se adapte a las características particulares de nuestros y nuestras pacientes. Palabras clave: mecanismos de defensa, género, sexo, perspectiva de género, salud mental, sintomatología psicológica y estrategias de afrontamiento Abstract: The present bibliographic research shows the existent scientific evidence about men and women differences in their usage of defense mechanisms, as well as the theorized causes for it. On the other hand, the differential influence of each copying strategy on mental health found in literature is discussed. Finally, some suggestions are given on how to improve, within the clinical practice, our evaluation and designing of therapeutic programs, for them to consider the information aforementioned and to be adapted to the specific characteristics of our female and male patients.
