LIBROS PELIGROSOS, LECTURAS IMPÍAS PRÁCTICAS Y REPRESENTACIONES SOCIALES SOBRE LA LECTURA EN EL CARIBE COLOMBIANO 1870-1886

Resumen Este artículo estudia las prácticas y representaciones sociales construidas en la región Caribe colombiana con respecto a la enseñanza de la lectura y su relación con los textos escolares durante el periodo de funcionamiento del régimen federal. Tiene como punto de partida, la idea de cómo el libro y la prensa fueron dos impresos que lograron convertirse, conjuntamente con la participación electoral, en la consecuencia más relevante del nuevo orden político resultante del proceso de independencia que trajo consigo a un nuevo actor: el ciudadano. A este fue a quien se pretendió formar en el marco de los nuevos códigos y valores republicanos, lo cual era precisamente el principal objetivo del proyecto educativo de los liberales radicales. Abstract This article examines the practices and social representations constructed in the Colombian Caribbean region with respect to the teaching of reading and its relationship with school textbooks during the operation of the federal system. Its starting point, the idea of how the book and the press are two forms that were able to become, together with the turnout, the most relevant consequence of the new political order resulting from the process of independence brought a new actor: citizens. This was the one who pretended to be under the new codes and republican values, which was precisely the main objective of the educational project of the radical liberals.
