Las fortificaciones de la Guerra Civil Española en la provincia de Ávila

An interesting group of fortifications remains in the Eastern side of the province of Ávila. Most of them were built built during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) by the 71st and 72st National divisions in the last months of the war. Military engineers developed there a personal style which makes  out of them a most significant and evocative set, with defences wholly integrated in the landscape and unique design patterns. We shall point out these features, besides describing the different defensive positions of the whole front. We shall also discuss the few surviving Republican fortifications in the province.En la parte oriental de la provincia de Ávila se localiza un interesante conjunto de fortificaciones construidas durante la Guerra Civil de 1936-1939. La mayor parte de ellas fueron construidas por las divisiones 71 y 72 del ejército nacional en los últimos meses de guerra. Los ingenieros militares desarrollaron un personalísimo estilo que hace de ellas uno de los conjuntos más significativos y evocadores de España, con defensas perfectamente integradas en el paisaje y modelos únicos. Señalaremos en el artículo esas características, además de enumerar las distintas posiciones defensivas con las que se organizaba el frente. Trataremos asimismo las escasas obras republicanas que restan en la provincia.
