The significance of Mexican art in the Hispanic Caribbean during the first half of the twentieth Century allows us to identify a dialogue of ideoaesthetic strategies in the project of visual modernity, where national concerns identified with the Mexican model. However, studies on the impact of these influences in Cuba and the presence of Caribbean artists in Mexico are still scarce. This article contributes to the mutual recognition and the correct valorization of these links seen from the particularities and special requirements of each context. Mexico forms part of an interdiscursive process with regards to the Hispanic Caribbean, as mediator of international tendencies and carrier of meanings and experiences coincident with those emerging in the islands.
