Given the scale and importance of labor migration, it is not surprising that it has attracted the attention of geographers for many years, as spatial mobility and movement are inherently geo- graphical. The contribution of geographers to our understanding of the patterns and impacts of such flows is significant and, as advances in social theory have been adopted in the discipline, the study of migration has developed in exciting ways. The complexity and multitudinous approaches to labor migration research are a challenge. When studying labor migration, it is necessary to move beyond the tidy world of academic disciplines, since migration is multifaceted, having cultural, economic, political, and social dimensions.
