La violencia a flor de piel en la narrativa de Alfredo Bryce Echenique: las tinieblas en Dos señoras conversan a la luz de Permiso para sentir

In Bryce Echenique’s short novel collection Dos señoras conversan, violence, in spite of being the main issue in the different texts, only appears in a very sporadic way. Nevertheless, Permiso para sentir and the author’s other chronicles teach us that this indirect treatment puts forward a systemic violence which is constantly present under the skin. These chronicles show how this subjacent violence iscountered by a symbolic variant proceeding from a subtle play with narrative structures. These two types of violence establish a very specific point of view that orientate the author’s global narrative work and questions the false utopias that aregenerally constructed in some stereotyped discourses about Peru and Latin America.
