The villa of C/ Olimpo and the territorial organization of the urban periphery of Lucentum (Alicante)This paper establishes the stratigraphic, chronological, and functional sequence of a suburban settle­ment located in the surroundings of the Roman town of Lucentum in order to outline the productive evolution of its periurban ager. The site shows four main phases, covering a long period, constructions from the Late Republican period (phase I, 2nd-1st centuries BC), an urban and road restructuring from Augustan period (phase II), the construction of a villa with structures of commercial transformation, dated from the late Julian or Flavian period (phase III) and finally the major restructuring of the villa in the Early Roman Empire (phase IV, 4th-5th centuries AD).KEY WORDS: VILLA, LUCENTUM, AGER, AUGUST, COMMERCIAL AGRICULTURE
