In 2012 and 2013, it was carried out several tasks of cleaning, preserving, studying and signposting the whole 16 burial structuresand a rock engraving panel in the surrondings of the headwaters of Barranco de Valdecretas, near the ancient paths betweenthe villages of Cretas and Arenys de Lledó, and from Lledó to Calaceite (Teruel, Spain). The goal of these task was to implementa new signposted route related to a series of burial mounds and settlements from the First Iron Age and the Iberic Culturelocated in this territory. The identification of these funeral facilities within the Matarrana area, which keeps a whole complexof graves belonging to the First Iron Age (7th-8th centuries B.C.), began in 1897 although the digging out and documentationwork did not start until the early 20th century. Since then, for nearly a century, the abandonment of many excavated structureshas been generalized and therefore it has affected both their preservation and accurate location. As a consequence of the studiesabout these necropolis, several living sites belonging to different stages of the First Iron Age and the Iberic Culture have beendiscovered.
