La Propuesta de Seguro de Desempleo Europeo. Estado de la Cuestión

Since the beginning, the Economic and Monetary Union lacks of stabilization mechanisms in order to answer to fiscal imbalances, particularly during macroeconomic crisis. The European Unemployment Insurance (EUI) is one of the most interesting options, both for its economic viability and its clear link with the single market. It would be an instrument by which the cost of unemployment coverage could be shared, at least partially, during economic crisis times. This contribution aims to describe the state of the art of several proposals of EUI that are being discussed and to answer some challenges that these initiatives have from the legal and practical point of view.
