La política minera, la protección ambiental y los derechos territoriales indígenas en la Amazonia colombiana

The present report outlines the regulation of legal and illegal mining with emphasis on particularly relevant provisions for the Amazon region, especially the department of Amazonas. It also outlines the obligations framework for environmental protection and indigenous land rights in the Amazon, and then contrasts both regimes. The report concludes that the multiple tensions, challenges, and vacuums in these regulatory frameworks increase the vulnerability of the Amazonian landscape and its communities vis-à-vis legal and illegal mining. The document is intended as a basic guide for decision makers and a general audience interested in gold mining in the Amazon.
