La persona, el debate bioético en torno al estado vegetativo y el papel de las nuevas tecnologías

The vegetative state is a state in which the patient has no awareness of himself or his environment. The concept of person appears in the discussion when it is argued that the individual, although biologically alive, no longer exists as a person. Here I proposed, firstly, to reflect on the moral status of these patients from some philosophical arguments. And, secondly, taking into account the theoretical foundation, and  the role of neuroscientific advances, it is aimed to analyze the practical implications regarding the decision-making process on the withdrawal of artificial nutrition and hydration.
