The last half of the twentieth century was the scene of the development of new technologies to improve maternal and fetal health. Thus, new possibilities to gestate and birth have been offered to pregnant women and fetuses at high risk whose future, in another historic moment would have been at least uncertain. However, the systematic use of such technology without a proper categorization of patients who would benefit from it, or without a thorough critical review of risks and benefits associated with its implementation, has helped put human birth in a whole new level : the quasi-industrial event. In turn, this reality produces other joints, and from the medical point of view and from the social and cultural aspects Human birth has been medicalized so much so that generated the short-and long-term consequences for both mothers and their children. The concept of reproductive success should be rethought in light of these and other realities that all those in relation to human birth, we see daily in our professional practice.
