In this paper I try to enquire about the importance of the space related to reading when the subject is the heroine of the realist and naturalist Spanish novel. Through different characters from authors like Galdós, Pardo Bazán, Clarín, Sawa or López Bago, I show and analize the different ways the space changes, always connecting with the different readings and how the woman reader confronts the text.
