As far as Judaism is deemed to be a  strict Monotheism,  any  deifying  process  occurring  within  this  religion appears  to  be  a  remarkable  fact.  As is  well-known,  however,  the  Galilean preacher  Jesus  of  Nazareth  came  to  be  revered  in  the most  exalted  terms –comprising  divinization–  in  some trends  of  the  initially  Jewish  movement  that  later  became  what  we  call «Christianity». ›is article provides an assessment  of  the  history  of  research carried  out  in  the  last  century  (from Wilhelm  Bousset’s  work  to  the  very present) by identifying and examining the  main  explanations  for  the  emergence  of  Jesus’  divinization  within  Jewish and Greco-Roman settings.La  equiparación  del  judaísmo  con  un monoteísmo  estricto  vuelve  intrigantes los procesos de dei—ficación que  parecen  producirse  en  esta  religión. Ahora bien, el predicador galileo Jesús de Nazaret llegó a ser venerado, en los términos más exaltados –hasta la divinización–  en  algunas  corrientes  de  la secta judía que más tarde se convertiría en lo que llamamos «cristianismo».  El  presente  artículo  proporciona  un panorama de la investigación en el último  siglo  (desde  la obra de Wilhelm Bousset  hasta  la  actualidad),  identifi—cando  y  examinando  las  principales explicaciones de la génesis del proceso de divinización de Jesús en los contextos judío y grecorromano.
