La figura del almirante en la Península Ibérica: Aragón, Castilla y Portugal, siglos XIII-XV

A comparative study about the Iberian admirals, with emphasis given to the late medieval dynamics of change, involving the configuration of a new monarchic model during the 14th-15th centuries. An analysis of the admiralship’s jurisdictional aspects is offered, facing theory and fact, while detailing its utmost relevance in the Iberian monarchies: Aragon, Castile and Portugal. Thus, both the Iberian admiralships’ differences and the similarities are explained and analysed, in order to discern the subjacent structures.
