The MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) are proposed as a major disruption in higher education. This idea has been spread very quickly through professional media, mass media and government and university channels. However, in a critical analysis of disruption posed, there is not any innovation in the field of online learning but a clear invasion of learning spaces by large companies and foundations which understand education as a target market. The authors of this paper detect high risks on the expansion of MOOCs, such as the massification of education, scientific and cultural standardization and economic speculation. This worries of the authors are supported by the path analysis of the MOOC phenomenon since its inception in 2008 until today, in 2013.
