Studies concerning cultural diplomacy are rare in Mexican historiography. This article searches to explore one example of this specific branch of diplomacy. The context of the Cold War was not favorable for diplomatic functions of this sort. However, considering the wide experience in the literary, political and diplomatic – particularly in the domain of culture in the UNESCO – fields, Ambassador Jaime Torres Bodet, from 1954 to 1958, presented an attractive image of Mexican culture and realized a great amount of cultural initiatives with the collaboration of notable Parisians.
