Descripción

Towards 3100-3000 BC began to build the defensive lines 2 and 4 in Los Millares, and opened the ditch 6 of Perdigões, then a small village. This defensive reinforcement continued a century later, with the construction of the defensive lines 1 and 3 of Los Millares towards 2900-2875 BC, and in a broader chronologi-cal range, from 2850 to 2625 BC, the ditch 0 of the small village of Marroquíes Bajos or ditch MR2 in Valenci-na. At the end of the Middle Copper Age, ca. 2500 BC, begins another phase of investment in defensive sys-tems, when the Bell Beaker pottery appears in the Southeast Iberian Peninsula and was dug the ditch 3 of Perdigões. This phenomenon intensifies ca. 2500-2475 BC when at least was built the fort 1 of the Millares and the defensive line beside the ditch 4 of Marroquíes Bajos, encompassing an area of 34-40 ha, and is dated the ditch 4 of Perdigões. This settlement was reinforced ca. 2400-2350 BC, with the new ditch 1, the outer-most. The final crisis of the Copper Age organizational model seems to begin with the destruction of the forts 1, 4 and 5 of Los Millares towards 2290-2285 BC.Key Words: Chronology, Copper Age, Iberian Peninsula, ditched enclosures, Valencina
