Iranian Studies Irán. Los retos de la repùblica islámica

Descripción

This book is both timely and fills a vacuum given the dearth of literature on Iranian foreign policy after the Islamic Revolution (1978‒79) in Spanish. The choice of an interdisciplinary approach proves particularly relevant given the diversity of challenges facing the Islamic Republic at the beginning of the twenty-first century. The contributors explore the US‒Iranian rivalry in the Middle East, the political evolution within the Islamic Republic from the regime of Khomeini (1979‒89) to that of Ahmadinejad (2005‒13), Russian‒Iranian relations, Iran‒Armenia relations and the so-called “Dialogue between civilizations.” The last two chapters focus specifically on the question of Iran‒Latin America relations: the first explores Ahmadinejad’s Latin America policy and, the second looks at Argentina‒Iran relations. This Latin American perspective on contemporary Iran sheds new light on the rapprochement between Iran and Latin America during Ahmadinejad’s presidency (2005‒13).
