Descripción

We present the results of a pilot study to promote student wellness, and reduce dropout, through a completely self-applied online intervention , based on the assumptions of positive psychology. The intervention, performed within the virtual induction program for new students, consists of a sequence of multimedia self-applied materials in a format of sequential intervention. The main purpose of this is to promote changes in personal beliefs about students' internal image related to the study situation as well as the emotion that this generates. Preliminary results show the beneficial effects of the intervention on psychological variables related to students' wellbeing, such as reduced academic procrastination and increased engagement and positive mood. The suitability of such online interventions promoting students' wellbeing and a proper use of self-regulated learning strategies through change on cognitive and emotional aspects, is considered within the principles of positive psychology.
