HRM Final Project
I am writing you today the CEO, to develop a Vice President Mass Marketing/ Public Relations position for Sanford Hospital. The VP of Mass Marketing & Public Relations would be the director and top manager of all local, regional and district Marketing and Public Relations Managers. The VP would hold quarterly meetings to discuss projects, budgets, policy, changes, directions, goals and new and old business.
Vice President Mass Marketing / Public Relations position for Sanford hospital is an excellent addition to our company. The VP of MMPR will be responsible for managing all of the Marketing and Public Relations directors in the Sanford network. VP of MMPR will report directly to the CEO and will work closely with the CFO and COO in order to determine budgets and upcoming changes and events. The VP of MMPR will also be responsible for planning and approving all marketing campaigns, develop new marketing and PR strategies as well as developing and promoting a positive image for the Sanford network.
Below I have listed 5 of the top reasons the addition of this position to the Sanford Hospital Network is favorable.
Uniformed Marketing Strategies throughout the entire Sanford network.
Create more efficient lines of communication throughout the branches in the Sanford network
Maximizing effectiveness of media marketing strategies in all regions
Saves money by centralizing campaigns and distribution of budgeted marketing funds
Lead supervisor and manager of all branch marketing and public relations position

Sanford Health of Sioux Falls, South Dakota is searching for a Mass Marketing Public Relations Vice President to work in our corporate office. The Mass Marketing Public Relation Vice President will have a large list of responsibility of executive tasks related to Marketing, Public Relations and Management. This position is perfect for career driven, goal orientated, individual with exceptional social and verbal skills that have a natural leadership personality.
This position requires a Bachelors Degree in either Business Administration or Business Healthcare Management with a minimum of 5 years working experience. Applicant must have extensive management and marketing background as well as the ability to lead a large team of branch managers.
To apply for this position fill out an online application and submit cover letter and resume with references on Sanford Health Website www.sanfordhealth.org/careers
When listing the Mass Marketing and Public Relations Vice President position for Sanford Health the initial listing will be posted internally for 2 weeks to provide a current employee the chance to fulfill the position. If there are internal applicant responses, review the resumes and begin the interview process. If the position is unfilled due to a lack of experience, education or knowledge, the company and I would begin an aggressive external posting. The position is marketing and PR related so there would be a traditional posting in the local newspaper and job service center and thinking outside the box post openings on several third party job listing sites such as Monster.com.
Applicants would apply with resume and sample portfolio of past Marketing and PR projects. This position is executive and has a high amount of responsibility so education and experience are key before an interview is even considered. Once candidates have passed the rigorous standards the candidate would be called in for an interview to be conducted by the human resources manager, if the recommendation is yes, then they would return for another interview to be held with the executive panel including but not limited to; CEO, CFO, COO, President, 2 members of the hospital board and HR, where a decision will be made and an offer will be made or denied at the end of this interview.
Potential questions:
How would you handle a Public Relations nightmare, for example in a hypothetical scenario, the current President was accused of Medical record tampering, bribery and breaking patient confidentiality where he gave a friend who was accused of domestic violence the location of his wife only to be murdered two days later. – Questions like this catch an applicant off guard and show their ability to recover quickly and compose themselves in a heated situation.
How can you become an asset to the company, why should we hire you?
What experience do you have leading large teams?
The compensation package would be a very aggressive wage including top level benefits, persk, salary and executive company perks.
The new employee will have intense experience being the position is very technical. Hiring a qualified individual will cut down n the need for an extensive training program.
The hired employee will visit each Sanford Health clinic or hospital branch to meet upper level executives as well as the Marketing and Public Relations managers of each location. This will help the employee put a face to the name and understand the workings of that particular location.
The MMPRVP will also work very closely with the CEO, COO and CFO during the first year to ensure information and companywide policies and practices are understand and being used. Working closely will also allow for the employee to ask questions and receive guidance on the Sanford Network.
With a large amount of responsibility placed in this position there will be monthly meetings to evaluate the progress and understanding of the position to be sure the needs, requirements and responsibilities are being met as laid out in the position description.
The new employee will also automatically be signed up for any company wide training or management training seminars Sanford Health participates in.
Adding the Vice President of Mass Marketing and Public Relations will create a leader and supervisor for the entire Marketing and Public Relations staff throughout the Sanford Health Network and branches. This position would lead all branch managers and directors in keeping a companywide unit and centralized uniform idea and concept. The position would solve conflicts between branches and their marketing ideas as well as keep an even marketing budget.
The position would work closely with top level management creating a solidified unit and an excellent line of communication leaving no strings untied. This will also relieve the management duties that are currently handled by the COO, freeing up more focus on managing other areas of the management in the network.
The addition of this position will create an easier flowing work environment and enabling a close united workforce and a better usage of management time.
