HÍBRIDO O MESTIZO, EL PROBLEMA SEMÁNTICO EN LA HISTORIOGRAFÍA DEL ARTE ANDINO

This article aims to revise the use of some terms such as mestizo,aculturación, transculturación, síntesis, sincretismo and híbrido (mixed,acculturated, transculturated, synthesys, syncretism and hybrid) inregards to the study of andean art history. Each term and the perspectivesthat are developed from it have caused a series of habits that through theyears created habits of thought that unable the access to the processesbehind the mixings and that are responsible for the aesthetic we cannowadays appreciate. This is why we propose this revision of the mostused terms, namely mestizaje, aculturación, and the problems andbenefits that derive from the use of the term hybrid.
