In the context of what has been defined in the framework of linguistic historiography as the history of grammar, during the last years several papers have been published in order to analyze the history of the school grammar as a space for reformulation and extension of grammatical traditions. With the goal of contributing to this task, this paper aims to analyze the Gramática de la lengua castellana (1893) by Baldmar Dobranich and Ricardo Monner Sans, attending in particular to two issues: a) how this school grammar enrolls in a series of linguistic traditions and Spanish grammar streams, and b) how it is encoded in the political and social complex networks involved in the national language debate in Argentina by the early twentieth century.
