A Summary of Giant Emerging-market firms
With the current dynamic nature of the world economy, takeovers, acquisitions, and market expansion strategies have become the new paradigm forms in the corporate world. GRUPO BIMBO is one such corporation in the baking industry, of Mexican origin that has could be categorized as a Giant Emerging-market firm. In 2009, GRUPO BIMBO bought part of Weston Foods for $2.3 billion, later buying Sarah Lee's American baking operation for $960, making it the largest baker in the U.S. Currently, in the past few months, the company has engaged in its expansion strategy in trying to acquire the once-iconic Hostess bread business, after it was placed under receivership.
Clearly, Bimbo's expansion strategy does not fall short of growth initiatives, with the aim and steadfast breakthroughs. Many say it is a master at bread-related breakthroughs, with clear achievements such as the introduction of sliced loaves to the Spaniards and the packaging of bread in clear cellophanes. Further, it is a master of efficiency and logistics, many familiarizing the company's brand with the logo bearing Lorries. Far from the history of Bimbo, frontier market countries in Many parts of the globe have on average 100 firms with annual sales above $ 1 billion, this forms the main motive for Bimbo to venture into this emerging markets, through the buying and acquisition of foreign companies. In this process, the corporation is more or less reconfiguring the entire industry.
Global challengers in emerging markets are not only competing on price, but they are also investing in innovation, producing new business models, acquiring new skills, and investing in new markets. This in the economic world is deemed to have multiplier effects, and with business's realizing the presence of comparative advantage, they are advancing on all fronts against their Western rivals, seeking to lock other developing economies.
Conclusion
Clearly, any emerging-market multinationals represent opportunities for growth as well as competition and disruption. They are also big clients, as well as customers for rich-world firms, and with the forces of demand and supply prevailing, such businesses are injecting a huge chunk or rather amount of dynamism into the world economy.
