Descripción

This Thesis is based on the restudied and revision of the archaeological data of the ancient excavations at the settlement of Sant Antoni (Calaceit, Spain) executed during the first years of the XX century BC. The archaeologists Joan Cabré and Pere Bosch Gimpera performed different campaigns of excavations between 1902 and 1919. The assemblages that were exhumed during these excavations and all the archaeological documentation were deposited in the Museu d’Arqueologia de Catalunya (MAC Barcelona) and Museo Cerralbo (Madrid). The study of this unpublished material culture, allowed us to create a new ceramic Iberian typology for the West Ebro region, dated between the VII century and the II century BC. It was also possible identify for the first time Roman and Visigoth phases.Through the analyses of these materials we were able to established diachronic studies for this settlement. We were also able to analyse the economic and commercial dynamics of the Iberian population of this region. This Thesis not only studied the ceramic assemblages, the architecture and urbanism of settlement were also taken into account. In this part of the discussion, we proposed an individualization of domestic unities in terms of Household Archaeology and concluded with an interpretation following the postulates of Social Archaeology. Our conclusions allowed us to identify rang differences and political hierarchy, being able to propose this model to the rest of the territory.
